# Children's Global Media Summit 2017

From December 5-7, Manchester, UK, will be home to the [Children's Global Media Summit,](https://centermil.org/2017/11/29/childrens-global-media-summit-2017/) a major child's media event held only once every 3 years! Over the 3 day Summit, sessions and keynotes will focus on five key themes: Innovation, Empowerment, Freedom, Entertainment and Education. The Summit was founded in 1995 in order to help secure the future of children’s programming in a rapidly-changing world.

This Summit will bring together creatives, technology innovators, policymakers, executives and thought leaders from around the globe to inform and redesign the future of media for Generation U and explore the impact that digital technology will have in children’s futures.

 This year, **Sherri Hope Culver**, Director of CMIL, will host and moderate the session **“Fest of Fests: a new initiative to create global online youth community that will enact an intercultural dialogue on young film and media production”** presented by Despoina Lampada from Michael Cacoyannis Foundation. Culver is also hosting and moderating the session, “**How open are children to diversity? Learning from emotion recognition software”** presented by, Sallyann Keizer, MD Sixth Sense Media Limited.
