The seventh annual International Media Literacy Week will be held this year from the 4th to the 8th of November. The event originated in Canada and is now celebrated internationally, intending to promote media literacy as a key educational component for youth around the globe.
The focus theme for this years’ Media Literacy Week will be, “What’s Being Sold: Helping Kids to Make Sense of Marketing Messages.” The week will be tailored toward educators and parents, providing tools needed to teach children and teens about the marketing they consume on a daily basis.
Events being held in the United States this year include a Google Hangout hosted by NAMLE NAMLE (National Association For Media Literacy Education), and the CMIL will be holding a Media Smart Seminar. Stay tuned for an updated report of this events from the CMIL.
