The CMIL took another trip around the world for our second International Children’s Film Festival. We brought the Temple and Philadelphia communities together to screen a series of short films by young filmmakers from around the globe. The films showcased were winners of the Plural + Youth Video Festival, which is worldwide film festival sponsored by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAC). Attendees watched both animated and live action videos produced by children and young adults between the ages of 9 and 25.
Spain, Canada, Jordan and Belgium were a few of the vast array of countries represented at the festival. Students and community members were captivated by the diverse array of culture and ethnicity and introduced to worlds not typically depicted in American media.
The event was hosted in the new Science Education and Research Center (SERC) on the and screened on the giant monitor in the mezzanine. We provided attendees with free pizza and drinks to enjoy during the festival as well.
