The event is sponsored by the Children’s Media Association, National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE), and Fordham’s Department of Communication & Media Studies. This will be an interactive and collaborative workshop on the next generation of entertainers – Kidfluencers! School-aged content creators and internet influencers have become increasingly popular amongst youth and their families, aided by the rise of fast-evolving internet tools such as YouTube, Instagram, and Tik Tok. What audiences are consuming these new media? What ethical issues regarding privacy, safety, and product promotion are at play? How can media literacy education help us understand this new wave of influence? How will this new form of children’s media continue to evolve?
