CMPoP meeting at Big Howl Studios on November 10th, 2023
What is CMPoP?
CMPoP was founded in June 2023 by Kaz Long & Sherri Hope-Culver with the purpose of fostering a community of children’s media professionals in the local Philly area. We recognized that there were many of us around but lacked a space to gather! As of March 2024, we have 50 CMPoP participants on the event email list, and our community continues to grow.
Coming Up
The next meeting will be held on June 7th at 10:00am. Kathy Hirsh Pasek will be joining us as our guest speaker for the meeting.
Kathy is a professor of psychology at Temple University and a senior fellow at the Brookings Institute. She is world renowned for her research exploring the intersection of children, education and play. We have been hoping to have Kathy speak to our group for months and we are fortunate that she is available to meet with us for our June gathering. Location TBD.
Past Meetings & Events
On April 4th, The Children’s Media Career Symposium at Temple University welcomed children’s media industry leaders from the Philadelphia area to share insight and network with the Temple and CMPoP communities.
On March 15th, CMPoP visited Mighty Picnic and met with the company’s founder, Dave Peth, and the production team.
Big Howl Productions invited CMPoP to tour their studio on November 10th, 2023. There, they met with Kevin Kelly and the Big Howl production team.
On September 22nd, 2023, CMPoP held an informal networking event to plan and discuss upcoming events at the OCF Cafe in Fairmount.
July 6th, 2023 was the first meeting for the networking group. The meeting was held at Green Eggs Cafe on Girard Avenue, kicking off the start of CMPoP.
