The Center for Media and Information Literacy has been named as a Global Chair in Media and Information Literacy in a collaboration between the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the University Twinning and Networking program (UNITWIN). The initiative is developing research, education, and collaborative planning of global media and information literacy initiatives with eight international partner universities, including Universities in Spain (Barcelona), Jamaica, Egypt, Morocco, China, and Australia.
